The effectiveness of Vokis

While Vokis may not provide the best form of learning, they can still be put to good use. An introduction tool like Voki gains the attention of the students as they are amazed that they are being talked to by an animal or even a famous politician on the subject of their learning. Vokis can be used as a humorous tool to distress the students in tense study times, or provide a mental relief to strenuous work schedules.

Students today possess the knowledge of all the technologies they have been growing up with. They have literally spent thousands of hours on computers and watching TV, which can provide a hindrance for teachers who are not up to date with the latest and greatest technological advancements in mobile phone, computer or television interaction. Today's teachers must be able to change how they communicate the language of learning, while not going away from the meaning of the work.

One way to gain the students' attention and respect is by being creative in the classroom. I believe that Vokis give the element of creativity and suprise that can be used to win the attention of students for the rest fo the lesson, especially those who have never seen the technology before.
